Course Descriptions: Chinese as a Second Language |
In order to provide the best quality of instruction and a balanced class for our programs, we require that all participants be able to meet both the age requirements and prerequisites for each class. PLEASE read course descriptions carefully so that your child can receive the instruction they need. Placement in the wrong class is detrimental to your child, both in their Chinese development and their self-esteem. To ensure proper placement, participants may contact the Academic Affairs for an evaluation appointment.
There are nine(9) courses in the Communicative Chinese Track. Each of these courses offers a practical, day-to-day exposure to Mandarin Chinese for children who do not speak Mandarin at home. Using textbooks that are lively and colorful and supplemented by Work Books and other material, it builds the student's vocabulary of words that can be used in day-to-day activities.
Note: The objectives for each class serve as the prerequisite for the next class listed.
